![]() ![]() In general I don't really like any of the 'RPG' mechanics of SS2, though, They don't make much sense, none of them are satisfying, and they're just a source of artificial frustration. Neglect your weapon for too long and maybe you get something you can't fix without more effort. STALKER: Call of Pripyat and, in particular, Receiver 2 have much more satisfying and tension-generating weapon degradation systems, where as the weapon's state of repair falls, you'll start to get different kinds of failures, most of which can be fixed in-place. There's no jamming or other performance degradation until your weapon just breaks, and if you don't happen to have an auto repair tool, sufficient repair skill or a backup weapon, good luck. I don't mind weapon degradation in general, but the way it was handled in SS2 is a bit. Now that said maybe game could have a story mode/super easy mode and that could remove weapon durablity,decrease cost of everything and basically make it a shooter game. ![]() Removing weapon degradation would make the game much much easier and make resource manegement less of an issue and it would severly limit player options.Īll the above are examples how to deal with the mechanics. You can complete the WHOLE game with melee+psi only then durability is not an issue you just need to commit your limited exp to that playstyle via the player choice. Melee weapons could not break so you could use them but then you more likely to take health dmg or you could use PSI too but then you use psi resources. (I think basic pistol loses 1 durability per 10 shots,laser pistol per 20 shots) If they are broken you can use insta repair kits but that cost money to buy. So if you maintain them once they around in condition 3. Usually if you took maintaince to 4 durability was not an issue but still using ranged weapon still have not just ammo cost but the cost of the maintaince tools.Īnd if player is commited to ranged weapon player style then he is likely commiting his limited"exp"/cyber points to help that playstyle.Īlso you could carry 2 or more weapons eg.first pistol break you switch to the second one but that is more inventory space.Īnd more importantly weapons could only break at 1 or some at 2 condition with % chance increasing as durability gets lower. Weapon degradation was part of the game balance just like in Stalker and Far cry 2. ![]()
